Almost six months after her unfortunate death, Joan Rivers won another award: a Grammy!
At tonight’s Grammy pre-show, Joan was nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for her audio book version of her book Diary of a Mad Diva. She was competing in her category against James Franco, Jimmy Carter, John Waters,Elizabeth Warren and Gloria Gaynor.
Following the win, her daughter Melissa Rivers accepted the award and spoke to E! on the Red Carpet.
When speaking with Giuliana Rancic, Melissa said that accepting the moment was “a difficult moment, it’s a little bittersweet. You know she was nominated once for her comedy album, never was ever nominated for any of her other books. And it’s like now she goes and wins, but it’s wonderful how loved she was and how she’s getting so much attention now and people are really understanding what she was about.”
We’re incredibly thrilled that Joan won this award. Congrats to her and Melissa. Well deserved!
