Lydia McLaughlin RHOC- It Was God's Will For Me To Leave

Remember Lydia McLaughlin, the Real Housewife of Orange County from season 8 with the fun, pot-smoking Mom, Judi? McLaughlin, who recently gave birth, has a new book out entitled Beyond Orange County.

In the book, she explains why she decided to not return to the show.

What did she have to say?

“I received news from my agent that I was being asked back for season 9 of the show,” McLaughlin writes. “The first time around, I felt my motives for doing the show were to glorify God. My intentions were pure. They were good. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt in my heart that God had called me to season 8 of the show.”

“I would need that same strong sense of God’s calling again,” Mclaughlin continues, “because my motives for being on the show the second time around were not as pure. I had gotten a taste of fame and recognition, and it was fun. The money the network offers you is enticing. The dresses and makeup and all things girlie were tempting.”
So what ended up happening? McLaughlin explains that, “As I prayed about the decision, I didn’t feel in my heart of hearts that I was called to do another season of the show. If I was being honest with myself, I felt called to walk away. I had wanted to be a light on the show, but now my true motivation for doing the show again was based more on the worldly benefits. I was definitely torn, and this was definitely a red flag.”
McLaughlin adds that, “The decision of whether to sign on for another season of The Real Housewives of Orange County was very hard for me to make. I spoke to wise Christian friends to ask for their input…I prayed and prayed and prayed that God would reveal His will to me, and slowly He did. It wasn’t the answer I wanted, but I couldn’t deny that I was getting an answer. My prayer of clarity was just receiving a no, which was a hard pill to swallow.”
