David Norton Married At First Sight Exclusive Interview
Q: What made you want to go on this show?
A: Well, I was just coming off of another short relationship. Which was becoming a reoccurring thing. I had tried to meet people and establish a relationship so many different ways. Church, online, co workers, friends of friends, grocery shopping on a Tuesday night. Nothing was working, so when this opportunity presented itself I had to go for it- because ultimately thats what I wanted. To be married.
Q: What was going through your head moments before you got married?
A: That every single moment of my life had lead me to right here, right now. Every failed relationship, every breakup, every almost, took me to this moment. And there was no place I’d rather be.
Q: What was the first word that popped in your head when you saw your new spouse?
Q: Knowing what you know now, would you repeat this experience again?
A: I would definitely do it all over again! But if it doesn’t work out with Ashley, I wouldn’t marry a stranger again. Does that make sense? Id definitely do it all over again looking back, but I actually wouldn’t do it for a second time- but never say never right?
Q: What was the hardest thing about being “married at first sight?” What was the easiest?
A: The hardest thing to me is just watching it all play out again. Only because it was such a challenge– especially early on and I had never put so much effort into a relationship and…it was just tough. To relive it all again after it happened – is tough. The easiest part was wedding planning. All I had to do was get fitted for a tux and show up- haha!
Q: How has the show airing affected your life?
A: My friends and I have something to do on Tuesday nights now haha…I mean I got into this for one reason only, and that was to get married. I have tried to keep my life the same since it aired and not change who I am, so I can’t say its affected my life too much other than I now know how to use Twitter. I have been able to reconnect with a lot of people from High School and College who have reached out to wish me luck, thats been pretty cool.
Q: What has people’s general response been to the show?
A: I try to stay away with whats being said in the magazines, social media and everything like that. It’s impossible to ignore it all, but I try to stay away from it. Having said that, I will say the majority of tweets that I have seen have been overwhelmingly positive. I am humbled by the number of people who have taken the time to say nice things and that I have helped in their own marriage in someway- its been really awesome!
Q: What can we expect from you the rest of the season?
A: You know that I am not perfect. I wasn’t ignorant to the fact that my marriage wasn’t going right and as we approach that 6 week mark of decision day. I made mistakes- and one really big one- in trying to find a way to get our marriage going in the right direction. But that was all in an effort to make this work and I truly did give it 110% 24/7.
Q: Anything else you want to add?
A: I know people question the “edit” but I have to say that everything has been pretty on point which is nice. Everyone from production, the experts and previous participants in the show have been awesome. Married at First Sight really is a family and whether I am still married or not I am really happy I am a part of it.
