One of the biggest talks of television in the past few months was the Netflix documentary Making A Murderer. The documentary followed the story of Steven Avery, a man who was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and, after being released, convicted of another crime and put back in jail. With news of Avery filing for an appeal to get the charges dismissed, Varietyrecently confirmed that there is talks about a second season of Making A Murderer. Want details?
Making A Murderer Season 2 Coming?
At a Stranger Than Fiction panel discussion at New York’s IFC Center this past Thursday, the filmmakers confirmed the following:
They have continued to speak with Steven Avery and have been recording their conversations with him.
They have spoken to Avery’s new attorney about filming for a second season.
Specifically, director Laura Riccardi said, “From our perspective this story is obviously not over. It’s real life and (Avery’s and Brendan Dassey’s) cases are both still pending. We have no idea when the magistrate will make a decision in Brendan’s case. We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan’s release or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that. To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this (case).”
