In an interesting turn of events in terms of what happened last season, Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalsonhas co-founded a new cancer charity, Kill All Cancer. There’s already some controversy and oddness surrounding it, though. What do we mean? Read on for details.
Vicki Gunvalson Kill All Cancer
Earlier this week, the website, KillAllCancer.com, was up. When you went to the website, you were met with a video of Gunvalson talking briefly about wanting to kill all cancer/the charity. She also showed off a bracelet you could purchase– much like a LiveStrong band- which was how you could contribute to the charity.
Soon after, though, fans started noticing a few bizarre things:
First, was that when you went to purchase a bracelet, you were not told how much they cost; rather, you had to fill out a form with your information and then they would get back to you to purchase them.
Also, there was a strange limit of a maximum of two bracelets per household. This seems odd, as if you were trying to raise money for cancer, you’d want people buying as many bracelets as they could.
Third, another thing that immediately seemed to grate people’s gears, was that there was a tab you could click for insurance! As fans of the show know, Gunvalson runs an insurance company. It seems a bit bizarre to link to a section where you could fill out information about insurance- which, one could logically infer, Gunvalson would profit off of- if you are a website strictly promoting a cancer charity.
Due to the backlash, a new Facebook group immediately was started, entitled “Shut Down Kill All Cancer by Vicki Gunvalson,” which has already garnered 78 likes.
Also, we’re assuming due to the backlash, all of the content has been taken off of KillAllCancer.com and replaced with a “coming soon” page.
We are not sure what to make of this all, but definitely will be keeping you posted.
