Exclusive: Ashlee Holmes Responds To Eviction Story
This morning, Radar Online posted a story about Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jacqueline Laurita‘s daughter, Ashlee Holmes, getting evicted from her apartment she used to live in in Los Angeles, California. We reached out to Holmes to get clarity on the story and she issued an exclusive response to us. What did she have to say? Read on for details.
Ashlee Holmes Eviction Story Exclusive Response
“I’m not sure why Radar would post this ‘story’ as if it’s breaking news,” Holmes exclusively told us. “I’ve talked about being evicted before. This isn’t a deep dark secret. It’s public record (obviously lol).”
“I was evicted from my apartment,” she continued. “I paid all by myself to get in there and I realized shortly after moving in that the rent was going to be too much for me to maintain each month with the job that I had at the time. (Especially since I had been fostering two dogs at the time and I didn’t tell the apartment. When they found out I had the two dogs they wanted me to pay pet rent too.)”
“I just couldn’t do it,” Holmes added. “I went about handling the situation the ABSOLUTE wrong way. What else can I say? It was a hard time for me. 20 years old and on my own for the first time -across the country. I learned the hard way, ha. After I was evicted from that apartment, I had moved back to NJ for about 3 months. I ended up being able to move back to LA shortly after.”
Holmes had more details to share, stating that, “When I went back out there for school I stayed with a friend. I was in between their place and my (then) boyfriend’s place. Shortly after graduating from MUD in 2013, I moved back to New Jersey to live with my parents in order to save money and start to repair my credit. I’ve been here ever since. I‘ve been able to save a substantial amount of money and I’m currently on the (long) road to purchasing a home with my fiancé now that we have our amazing son.”
“Listen,” she elaborated, “I’m at an age where I don’t have skeletons in my closet. I’m very honest and open about everything. I don’t ever act like I’m perfect. I don’t try to blame shift or play games like some other RHONJ cast members. I own it. I think whoever was attempting to gossip about this with Radar are just grasping for straws and trying to make me look bad as an attempt to stick it to my mother. It’s ridiculous. The joke is on them though because like I said, I’ve openly discussed this before. And I’m owning it (again) now.”
“But I mean I guess it’s easier to own that you once owed $1700 as a 20 year old vs owing roughly $13.4 million at the age of 44,” Holmes stated, clearly talking about one of the RHONJ stars. “ANYWAY, The only thing inaccurate about the article was that my debt has in fact been paid back since. It was handled through a debt collector. I have learned many many many lessons about life in my 26 years so far.”
“Maybe I’ll write a book one day on what NOT to do haha,” Holmes wrapped with telling us. “Who knows. All I know is I wouldn’t change ANYTHING that’s happened to me/that I’ve done. It’s made me who I am today and I’m very proud of who I am. If anything was different I wouldn’t have learned the lessons that I have and I think those lessons were crucial for me to learn in order to grow up.”
We appreciate Holmes sharing her side of the story with us!
