This season on The Real Housewives of New York City, we will be seeing a new Housewife in Tinsley Mortimer. While we had reported she had previously been arrested (read about that here), she recently opened up about the situation that led to the arrest with People. What did she have to say? Read on for details.
Tinsley Mortimer Arrest Opening Up
In their report, People notes that by the time Mortimer was arrested she claims she had “spent two years covering up a violent relationship” with her ex.
People cites various police reports that show that there was violence between the couple, and they have pictures that show the violence that went on, including one of Mortimer with a black/swollen eye.
“I had moments of feeling like I wasn’t going to make it,” Mortimer told People. “I was going to be one of those tragic stories you see on TV.”
Mortimer then reflects on her relationship, stating, “I started to notice there was this quick switch of anger. It’s honeymoon, then tension, and then it’s explosive.”
“When it was good, it was so good,” she continued “It was, I love you more than anything. You are the love of my life.”
However, the violence began to get out of control, as Mortimer states, “When pillows are over your head, you do everything you can to get out of that. I almost felt like I deserved it. He would make me feel like I was the cause.”
She wrapped with stating that, “It took the arrest, the mug shot — all those painful things for me to recognize his lack of character. I will never put myself in that situation again. It was horrible. Being arrested was the only thing that broke me out of the cycle of violence. Now I’m done.”
This is very sad to hear, but we’re glad to hear that she got out of her bad relationship.
