Ten Ton Man

Ten Ton Man- Dangerous Woman & A Desperate Man Song Review

New Music!

I am always excited to get the chance to hear new music, especially ones by singer-songwriters. Growing up I was a huge fan of Tori Amos, considerably one of the best singer-songwriters ever, and she truly made me appreciate a wider breadth of singer-songwriters, from Joni Mitchell to Fiona Apple and more. When I heard there was a new song from a man who goes by Ten Ton Man, who was garnering comparisons to the brilliant Nick Cave, I was curious to get to hear it. So how is his song Dangerous Woman & A Desperate Man (which just so happens to be the title of his forthcoming album as well)? Read on for my thoughts.

Ten Ton Man- Dangerous Woman & A Desperate Man Song Review

The song, which starts off with acoustic guitars, almost immediately made me think of Deep Blue Something‘s Breakfast At Tiffany‘s from the 90’s just from the sound; however, once Ten Ton Man started singing and the drums came in, I realized this was nothing at all like Deep Blue Something’s pop-rock hit.

Instead, what we have here is a well thought out, emotionally driven rock number. There were a few things that stood out to me in the track. One was how much I liked his voice, which definitely draws comparisons to Nick Cave and Bob Dylan. Also, I really liked the bare honesty of the lyrics, especially when Ten Ton Man sang,  “she tore my pants off, we hit the floor… I got roughed up.” Through his words, he is telling you a story that completely paints a picture in your head of what’s going on, and that’s what any good singer-songwriter should do.

Based on this song, it’s clear that Ten Ton Man is definitely an artist to watch out for.
