The internet has been abuzzing since Monday, when Teen Mom 2 Dad Nathan Griffithhad a warrant out for his arrest due to an alleged domestic violence situation (read about that here). Then, Tuesday, he was arrested on two separate charges (read about that here) and the topic has been a hot one all week. Late Wednesday, Griffith got out of jail, and we exclusively caught up with him to talk about what happened from his perspective from the incident with Jessica Henry, to the arrest, and more. Read on to see what he shared with us.
“Before I even hung out with Jessica,” Griffith began exclusively sharing with us, “My Mom even talked to Jessica the night before saying that she didn’t want me up by her house because she was afraid. My Mom was like, ‘I like you Jessie, but I think right now you have ill intentions for Nathan. All it takes is one argument and you’re going to set him up. I don’t feel safe for him up at your house at all.’”
“I ended up meeting up with her Sunday,” Griffith told us. “We were having a great night at a sports bar. I don’t know if she was drunk or what, but I felt she was sitting a little bit too close to this guy. I took pictures- the picture was of the guy with his legs spread and her chair in between his crotch- and sent it to her. She said I was acting ridiculous. I knew this guy was no threat, as he was overweight and disgusting, but still it was inappropriate and she looked too comfortable. When I sent her the picture, I said, ‘that doesn’t look appropriate, can you back off?’”
Then things started to get out of hand, as Griffith revealed that, “She started fighting with me and flipping out on stuff. I told her I didn’t want to argue. I’m tired of drama. So, finally, I left the bar because she was causing a scene. I ended up going back to the bar and asked her if she wanted to talk. She said, ’No, get away from me.” So I left. On my drive home, I was thinking that maybe her and I could work something out, so I went to her house.”
“Supposedly she went somewhere to go to a cookout and was gone for an hour and a half,” he continued. “I came back and ended up waiting at her house. When she got back, I knocked on the door. If I was a threat, why did she let me in? If she didn’t want anything to do with me, why would she let me in to her house? She comes to the door and she opens the door and I said, ‘So what do you want to do? Are you done?’ She said, ‘Yeah, I’m done.’ I said, ‘Are you sure? All I want to do is talk. I just want to tell you how uncomfortable it looked.’ I also told her it doesn’t take an hour and a half to cookout and asked to see her phone.”
“We have an open phone policy,” Griffith elaborated. “So I looked at her phone and of course she was texting one of her friends asking about a guy. I was like, ‘What the heck is this?’ She said ‘Get out.’ I said okay and then she started pushing me. I said, ‘Can you please keep it down? Can you ever have a conversation with me like an adult?’ She said, ‘If you don’t leave, I’m going to yell for Alex (her roommate).’”
Griffith detailed what happened next, saying, “She started screaming for her and I said, ‘I’m out of here.’ Alex opened up the door and I said, ‘I’m leaving, Alex.’ (As I was walking out) her roommate started laughing, telling us how we were both acting ridiculous, were both drunk, and should go to sleep and wake up in the morning and talk it out. I said, ‘That’s what I’m trying to say Alex. All I want to do is talk it out with her.’ She’s like, ‘Why are you laughing at me? This is serious.’ I said, ‘No it’s not, Jessie. You’re making it serious.’ She was like, ‘No this is really serious.’ She throws on the waterworks and I said, ‘You know what, I’m out of there.’”
“She constantly- when she knows I give up or don’t want to be with her, that’s when she acts crazy and psychotic,” he added. “It’s really, really unfair to me.”
Griffith then detailed what happened next when he found out that the cops had been called, telling us that, “Once I found out I had a warrant, I think I heard from heresay that Myrtle Beach put me on the wanted list. My warrant wasn’t even out less than 12 hours. It’s freaking ridiculous. When (the) Myrtle Beach crime rate- there’s armed robbery, there’s murder, attempted murder and stuff, and they want to get me like that? For like second degree domestic violence, when it shouldn’t have even been second degree domestic violence? It shouldn’t have been any charge. It’s just ridiculous.”
As those who have been following the story know, Griffith was unable to turn himself in. Rather, the cops were called to a residence he was staying at, where they charged him with having an open container of alcohol and lying about his identity.
“That’s 100% true,” Griffith told us of what happened. “(When the cops arrived) I told the cops they couldn’t search me. They violated my rights and searched me anyway. I told them my name was somebody else. They said, “Do you have any ID on you?’ I said, ‘I do, but you can’t search me.’ Then the other cop came over and pulled my wallet out of my pocket. It was (in my opinion) an illegal search warrant. Cops treat me really dirty. They pinned me with the most severe charges they can because of my reputation (from Jenelle/Teen Mom).”
“I’m not worried about the charges,” Griffith added, “as Jessie had no marks on her. No throat marks. Nothing. Nothing is wrong with her.”
“It’s just costing me a lot of money and it’s stressful,” Griffith wrapped with telling us on the situation.
While we appreciated Griffith sharing his side of things with us, we also got to talk to him about his ex, Jenelle Evans, and his thoughts on how she may try to use what happened against him in her upcoming fight for full custody of their son, Kaiser. Stay tuned for an upcoming story to see what Griffith had to tell us about that.
